Harish Rawat demands three fold hospitals in the coming ten years in view of increasing number of patients
The former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat has demanded three times more fully equipped hospitals in Uttarakhand n the country in the incoming decade as according to him the numbers of patients are exponentially increasing and Uttarakhand is lacking hospitals, especially the well equipped one. The former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat has expressed his desire for three times more hospitals in Uttarakhand and the country from his expensive hospital bed namely Jolly Grant Himalayan Hospital where he is under treatment and convalescing for the last two days after his car met with an accident hitting a divider while heading for Kashipur from Haldwani. The former CM was sitting on the front seat with the driver and got tremendous jolts with acute pain in the back and the chest. After the accident though Rawat was released from the Kashipur hospital at 3.AM , he was readmitted at Jolly Grant Himalayan hospital after he complained again of the acute back n chest pain. Harish Rawat is a septuagenarian and is very mobile not sitting idle for a day even. There are large number of visitors coming to know about his health condition at the Rishikesh hospital. The doctors and paramedics are monitoring his health closely. It may be recalled that during the last twenty three years there has been a record exodus to cities, towns and metropolises of the villagers and their children numbering to over thirty lakhs. The reason being non availability of health centres, dispensaries, and even district hospitals with adequate medical facilities n medicines including doctors and surgeons. Lack of quality education centres and schools is another reason for the mass exodus compounded with non availability of job avenues. Therefore about three thousand villages have become ghost villages and maneaters, wild animals like wild bears, monkeys and pigs are coming nearer to human habitats destroying the agriculture and brutally killing human lives. There had been hundred of incidents of of pregnant women delivering babies on roads, on health centre’s doorstep as sometimes ambulances are not available and health centers not having adequate nurses, doctors etc. The successive governments have been talking much but literally doing nothing for the common populace as the politicians, lawmakers, ministers, bureaucrats and the elite get themselves and their families treated in super speciality hospitals and talk of the need to open hospitals for the poor but all in vain. What makes us hang out heads in shame is that during the last twenty three years since Uttarakhand came into separate existence, while the state’s financial deficit has gone up multiply from Rs. 4000 crores in 2004 to 80000 crores now, the government district hospitals have gown down in terms of standards and given to private parties who are minting exorbitant profits against treatment of the patients living in villages, who have no sources of income and therefore at the mercy of these so called hospitals. While, the state talks lot about inviting investors and generating 2.5 lakh crores no one talks of providing hi tech hospitals for the poor, hapless and lower middle class giving them free treatment. This is the tragedy of Uttarakhand. Harish Rawat has in a Facebook post in Hindi written : I am admitted for check up in Jolly Grant hospital from Kashipur . It’s a very smart and efficient hospital. The way number of patients is increasing manifold the country should have three folds hospital said Rawat.
