Kaka helped those who worked for him tirelessly during elections and also served electorates in best possible way !

Rajesh Khanna aka Kaka very much cared for those who worked with him and helped in his election while he was in Delhi. It was quite obvious that though being a first popular Superstar for whom superstardom word was coined by media for the very first time in the film industry giving back to back several super duper hit between 69 to 72 never to look back again, at least till eighty was madly loved by all in New Delhi as, was elsewhere. But some were lucky hard working dedicated activists who left no stone unturned to ensure his victory through their untiring best efforts.

Though earlier Kaka being the best affectionate choice of the then PM Rajiv Gandhi and after his tragic death an important candidate of then prime minister Narsimha Rao supported by R. K. Dhawan , his coterie then consisted of Brijmohan Bhama, the close lieutenant of Mr. Dhawan, Naresh Juneja who remained with Kakaji while he was MP and there after as well even after Kaka losing from New Delhi, Chanchal, a senior writer, poet, artist who came in contact with Kaka when he contested against Shatrughan Sinha, Dinesh Singh, Vipin Oberoi, me as his media advisor and few others. Chanchal ji played a pivotal role writing dialogues, important points of speech and even Shero shayri for him delivered in speeches. Chanchal ji almost had evening sittings with Kakaji who used to discuss things pertaining to election issues and planning for the next day etc. In his office Chandrashekhar used to look after the reception office and receive calls. Late Captain Kapila retired from Army adjusted by Naresh Juneja, as his trusted man with Kakaji in his 81 Lodi Estate office was a thorough gentleman dealing with letter writing, dictating to the typists daily on various problems of the constituency D. O. Letters of recommendations for the electorates everyday duty signed by Kakaji, the then New Delhi MP. After winning from New Delhi, when Kaka was allotted 81 Lodhi Estate Bungalow where once lived H. N. Bahuguna, former union minister and UP CM and later on Pramod Mahajan, Kaka got good number of steel chairs fitted on one side of the lawn where used to sit the electorates of his constituency while approaching him daily for redressal of their grievances.

When Kaka used to come out of his bungalow to meet them with retired captain Kapila following him taking Kaka’s instructions the constituency workers n electorates who were his fans too used to gaze him keenly forgetting their grievances and praising him. Kaka used to tell them : KAAM TO BATAAO BHAI, ( TELL ME ABOUT YOUR GRIEVANCES) . Kaka used to direct Kapila to give them letters of recommendations to be collected the other day. But despite asking them to come the next day for letters of recommendations the voters especially girls and women used to sit there watching Kaka standing there, for hours together. Kaka used to stand near a big GANESHJI’S STATUE fixed inside the precincts of his bungalow for hours and meet people coming to him. Till then the people whom kaka had earlier met, interacted and given letters of recommendations or asked to come next day would remain glued to the chairs and watch him moving around and talking to others instead of leaving. They would watch him keenly for hours and then leave. Kaka was helpful and supportive to all. As people usually say that Bollywood stars after being elected once worh thumping majority get disillusioned with their electorates and quit politics bidding it final adieu as was the case with Amitabh Bachchan when he defeated political stalwart H. N. Bahuguna from Allahabad it wasn’t the case with Rajesh Khanna aka Kaka. Kaka despite losing from New Delhi at the hands of the then urban development minister Mr. Jag Mohan shunted between Mumbai to Delhi, having a rented house in Sarvapriya Vihar just because he wanted to serve Congress, the party that gave him first chance to be elected as MP from a prestigious New Delhi parliamentary seat. Kaka used to often meet the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other central leaders in Delhi like Ahmed Patel whom he used to express his ire at midnight several times over phone. Ahmed Patel used Kaka’s services for extensive campaigning in Delhi elections in support of several candidates during Sheila Dikshit’s two tenures till 2010 with Kaka holding padyatras and extensive campaigning in Janakpuri constituency in favour of his personal Congress candidate Deepak Arora whom Kaka helped at the behest of Vipin Oberoi. Kaka’s services were also used by Congress high command for North East elections, Haryana and other states. He was also invited by other senior leaders personally requesting him to campaign for them as once called by Madhav Rao Scindia in Gwalior for few days but despite giving him assurance to give him Rajya Sabha he was always ditched by senior Congress leaders reveal his close confidents. Very few people know that Kaka after being fed up with Congress high command’s false promises despite his being at the party’s, service dedicatedly campaigning for its candidates as and when his services were required, Kaka was offered a Rajya Sabha seat from UP by then UP CM and SP supremo Mulayam Singh, but principled Rajesh Khanna despite being repeatedly pursued by his coterie to utilize the golden opportunity didn’t accepted the proposal just because he wasn’t interested at all to betray Congress. Kaka was also caring and helpful towards those who served him, worked with him or helped him. For instance Kaka helped Vipin Oberoi sanction his Food Van first and then got it shifted to diplomatic venue behind Jesus and Mary college at Chanakyapuri, inaugurated by the superstar. He helped Ashok Randhava who was with him in both the elections as his campaign announcer whole time by getting his shop shifted from Tees January lane to a profit oriented location Sarojini Nagar market. Since Randhawa who earlier got this, shop allotted at the behest if the Congress leader Tajdar Babber wasn’t doing well here Randhawa had requested Kakaji to get it shifted to Sarojini Nagar market which wasn’t an easy job. But Kaka got it done. Some of his followers derived benefit using his clout which Kaka new but since he did not want to annoy them kept mum knowingly. Such was his great heart.
