Three dead bodies recovered under the landslide rubble at Chamba, Tehri Garhwal. Two women and a four year boy die due to asphyxiation in a car !
After extensive efforts and several JBC machines on the job including the SDRF rescue teams digging the rubble for several hours finally as it was being feared the dead bodies of two women and a son were found under tins of rubble consisting of heavy rock pieces and mud. The dead trio were inside the car parked on the roadside at Chamba taxi stand near the Chamba police station which too was completely demolished. There is a possibility of two sisters namely Poonam Khanduri and, Saraswati Devi and four year old son dying of asphyxiation. All the three dead bodies have been sent for oust mortem. It may be recalled that the massive landslide has occurred on Monday when tins of rubble, a huge portion of the mountain fell down with a huge bang on the road damaging houses as well falling on several cars parked at the taxi stand and near the police station in Chamba, Tehri Garhwal. This is a main thoroughfare on which the commuters from Rishikesh and local public extensively commute. After the massive landslide the SDRF rescue and police including ambulance were pressed into service. Two JCBs were immediately put into service and when it was revealed that three persons have been trapped under the debris the rescue teams actively started removing rocking stones and ruble expeditious. After several hours of efforts finally the sad news came about the three deaths, two women and a four year old boy. Hundreds of people had collected at the tragedy site while the SDRF personnel were busy digging the huge rubble. Finally they proved successful to retrieved the car but sadly with three dead bodies probably due to a asphyxiation. Rest in peace.
