LEGENDARY GARHWALI POET AND AUTHOR, OCTOGENARIAN LALIT KESHWAN FELICITATED WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WITH RS 51000 CHEQUE

A legendary Garhwali poet, literateur and writer Lalit Keshwan was heartily congratulated on his 85 th birthday today and felicitated with “GARH SAHITYA AAJANAM SEWA SAMMAAN”, ( Lifetime Achievement Garhwali literary contribution honour) . The honour carries a cash award of Rs 51 thousand , a shawl, a citation praising him for his more than six decades contribution in promoting and preserving Garhwali dialect , literature through his humorous and serious poems, stories and literary works highlighting various aspects of our society especially the Pahadi culture. Renowned in Uttarakhand literary and poetic circles Lalit Keshwan served in Hotel Ashok but while serving there he continued writing regional Poetries, stories, books of social issues and humorous Poetries as well lauded by one and all. He has read Poetries from various platforms with legendary Garhwali poets , authors including thinkers like Kanhaihya Lal Dandriyal, Dr. Prem Lal Bhatt, Sudama Prasad Premi and other distinguished poets. The prestigious honour was presented to him at Gandhi Peace Foundation this evening by Dr. Vinod Bacheti chairman DPMI in the presence of writers, journalists, social activists, literary figures and people from different areas of Delhi and NCR. His wife who also sat on the dias with her husband Lalit Keshwan was also honoured with a shawl bouquets and garlands by Hema Uniyal, Nirmala Negi and Prema Dhoni. A nicely decorated garland full of currency notes was also presented to him on his birthday. Prominent among those present on this ocassion were Dinesh Dhyani, Dr. Ramesh Kandpal, Jag Mohan Singh Rawat, ( Jagmora) ,Ramesh Ghildiyal , Charu Tiwari, Suresh Nautiyal, Sunil Negi, Darshan Singh Rawat, Nirmala Negi, Pradeep Vedwal, Rakesh Dhasmana, Anil Pant, Mahavir Rana, Chipdu Dada Rawatji, and others. It may be recalled that octogenarian legendary Garhwali poet and author Lalit Keshwan has to his credit unaccounted number of poetry books, literary articles, short stories and Poetries on humour etc. His contribution in preserving and promoting Garhwali dialect and literature is immeasurable.
