Massive Cloud Burst and heavy rains in Uttarkashi leads to damage to roads, bridges, houses and shops. Schools declared closed till 22 July

While red alert has been issued in several parts of Uttarakhand due to heavy rains to come, in Uttarkashi a powerful cloud burst mishappening in Purola, Basketball, Navgaon Mori areas due to heavy and massive rains has resulted in tremendous inconvenience to people and collosal loss. There was over flooded water all around. From 2 AM till morning on Saturday the rains continued massively leading to not only tremendous inconvenience but also closure of Yamunotri National Highway at Dharaasu turn as well as at Gangnaani. While it was, raining heavily at three in the night news about cloud bursts was received from Purola, Nandgain at Badjot and Dhaubtri areas leading to massive damage to roads, small walking bridges, pathways , agricultural farms, houses, vehicles and shops as quantum of water increase manifold turning into floods. As a, result Saturday was declared as official holiday in Uttarkashi. Apart from colossal losses in Badkot, Nandgain, Dhauntri areas and Purola , the RCC bridge connecting Purola, Kharadee, Pujeli, Chaptaadi etc villages was completely damaged and drowned. Not only this but due to overflowing of gushing water in Banal rivulet un Uttarkashi a Walking bridge too was completely damaged in Badkot tehsil and swept away simultaneously. Several vehicles stationed at Yamunitri highway at Gangnaani were completely submerged in the excessive silt . All the schools were closed officially till 23 rd July in view of the massive rains, cloud bursts and subsequent damages of roads, pathways, houses, shops and even connecting bridges in kidding landslides at several places. The local police, SDRA and the district administration is busy providing relief to the affected people though there have been no reports of any casualty.
