Satpal Maharaj unhappy over award of contracts of PWD without tendering process !

The senior most cabinet minister in Uttarakhand government Satpal Maharaj doesn’t seem to be satisfied over the functioning of his various departments, especially the Public Works department where according to him the various PWD contracts are being awarded to contractors without filing tenders. Now, they are not getting the payments. There have also been reports of the payments of such contracts not being released and an environment of red tape existing with bureaucracy dominating in Uttarakhand’s various departments. It may be recalled that Satpal Maharaj has been in various controversies due to his outspoken statements expressing his displeasure over the sorry state of affairs in his own departments of PWD and Irrigation etc with certain videos of his tremendous scolding to PWD officers etc going viral in social media including his complaints of alleged corruption and allotment of contracts of PWD works without tendering. He had in the past also lodged protest and complained about an officer allegedly doing his duplicate signatures and seeking arbitrary promotion in his department, something never heard of before. The minister is badly annoyed about various tenders of PWD being given to contractors without filing tenders. He is worried as to who are behind all this alleged arbitrariness allegedly accusing the bureaucracy dominating in UK government with ministers having no say. There are reports that the CM is allegedly not happy with Satpal Maharaj’s outbursts and the expansion / reshuffle is already on the cards. Moreover, he was earlier claimant for the chief minister’s post but having been a Congress defector, his chances always receded and was out if the race despite the very fact that he had been the state finance and railway minister at the centre during Devegowda’s prime minister ship.
