There have been several reports of Covid 19 entering the interior villages with the inhabitants suffering from cough n throat infections the initial mandatory signs of dreaded Covid 19. An environmentalist Vinod Juglan wrote and subsequently spoke to the district magistrate of Dehradun Dr Ashish Shrivastava on Wednesday highlighting the plight of most of the inhabitants of Gram Sabha Shyampur Nyay Panchayat n Khadri Kharak MAAF, under the jurisdiction of Tehsil Rishikesh n block Doiwala comprising of the population of 17 thousand who are suffering from the symptoms of dreaded Covid 19 but not seeking adequate treatment or getting tested due to social stigma or non availability of adequate medical care posing a huge risk of the pandemic spreading further. In a letter addressed to the district magistrate, Dehradun, Dr. Ashish Srivastava environmentalist and social activist Vinod Juglan wrote : My village which comprise of around 15 wards with a population of around 17 thousand people is in the grip of deadly Covid 19 as almost every member of the family is coughing badly n suffering from viral fever. They are psychologically so apprehensive of Covid 19 that they are avoiding going to doctors for treatment or testing testing Covid 19. Though they are not getting themselves tested for Covid the constant fever n coughing unambiguously give the idea about these inhabitants infected with Covid 19 wrote Juglan. He further added that in some of the fatal cases the Covid was detected after the test conducted on dead bodies of the village fatalities. In view of the said village sitting on the Covid 19 bomb Juglan urged the district magistrate to kindly depute a chief medical officer with his entire team to visit the village and conduct Covid 19 tests of the patients coughing n suffering from Covid 19 symptoms in order to apply a break from this dreaded disease spreading further. He offer the services and space in the big Community centre of Shyam Our Nyay Panchayat and Rajkiya Inter College building to be converted into the Covid treatment facility in wider interest of the village n the surrounding populace. It may be recalled that the pandemic is spreading rapidly in Uttarakhand.
