Dobra Chanti Bridge of Tehri Garhwal is symbolic of peoples’ struggle and defeat of political leadership – Rajeshwar Painuli
The Dobra Chanti Bridge Sangharsh Samitttee on Saturday organised a thanks giving event at Press Club of India in New Delhi.
The programme was primarily organised by the convenor of Dobra Chanti Bridge Sangharsh Samitttee, Tehri Garhwal chartered accountant and political leader Rajeshwar Painuli. He is presently in Congress after shifting loyalties last year. The three time member of parliament from Tehri Garhwal parliamentary constituency Rajya Lakshmi Shah was the chief guest on this occasion.
It may be recalled that Rajya Lakshmi Shah MP has raised the long pending issue of Dobra Chanti Bridge of Tehri Garhwal in parliament several times as a result of which the successive governments of Uttarakhand n its chief ministers were compelled to fulfill this protracted demand of the agitating inhabitants of Pratap Nagar, Tehri Garhwal under the banner of Dobra Chanti Pull Sangharsh Samitttee led by its leader Rajeshwar Painuli.
Addressing the people of Tehri Garhwal in Delhi including those hailing from various social organisations Rajeshwar Painuly catagorically said that the now constructed Dobra Chanti Bridge in Tehri Garhwal after fifteen long years is the result of the incessant struggle of the Dobra Chanti Pull Sangharsh Samitttee which finally proved successful in pressuring the successive state governments of Uttarakhand to fulfil their long pending demand.
This bridge is symbolic of the incessant struggle of the the aforesaid committee asserted Rajeshwar Painuli.
Today, this bridge has been constructed after 15 long years giving a huge relief to the people of Pratap Nagar n Tehri Garhwal who had to cover hours n hours together to reach their respective destinations in the absence of this bridge constructed at the escalated cost of Rs three hundred crores said Painuli.
He further added that their struggle has not ended till yet n will continue till the inhabitants of Tehri Garhwal n Pratap Nagar do not get all their genuine grievances resolved as this district has suffered the most, becoming backward due to the construction of Tehri Dam.
Accusing the successive governments of Congress and BJP Painuly added that due to the wrong policies and inordinate delay in the construction of the bridge, its cost got arbitrarily escalated from 90 crores to Rs. 300 crores thus amounting to the misuse of the tax payers hard earned Money.
He demanded special concessions for the inhabitants of Pratap Nagar including a concrete financial package for the development of the area.
He warned the government not to impose any toll tax on the commuters of Pratap Nagar failing which the Dobra Chanti Sangharsh Samitttee will resort to direct action.
The three term MP of Tehri Garhwal Maharani Rajya Lakshmi thanked the people of Tehri for their unstinting support to her and assured her full cooperation to the inhabitants of Pratap Nagar and Tehri in their various developmental pursuits.
Maharani Rajya Lakshmi lauded the incessant struggle of Tehri Dobrachanti Sangharsh Samittee, congratulating and thanking the previous CM Trivendra Singh Rawat as well for finally aceding to the long pending request of the inhabitants of Pratap Nagar.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were senior journo Umakant Lakhera who was also felicitated on this occasion, president, Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi, Uttarakhand Prakosht President Arjun Rana, former Garhwal Bhawan chief Gambhir Singh Negi, senior journalist Abhinav Kalura etc.
