PARENTS OF DAMINI OF VASANT VIHAR RUNNING BUS MEET PRESIDENT URGING HER TO BRING LATE ANAMIKA’S CULPRITS TO JUSTICE !

The parents of the Nirbhaya of Vasant Vihar of 2012 gang rape cum brutal murder case have met the president Draupadi Murmu and urged her to intervene in Anamika of Najafgarh’s obnoxious gang rape cum brutal murder case in which the alleged culprits were set scot free by the apex court of the country few months ago. The parents of Nirbhaya of Vasant Vihar case had been constantly with the parents of Damini of Najafgarh in their relentless struggle after the brutal convicts were set free by the supreme Court’s judgement, beyond anyone’s belief. However, review petitions by the Delhi Police and the parents of late Kiran Negi have been filed in Supreme Court now. There had been several sit ins and protest demonstrations and candle marches in Delhi and NCR after the acquittal of the three convicts on 8 November, 2022 in late Kiran Negi case who was brutally killed in 2012 in the precincts of Rodhai village in Haryana after obnoxious gang rape with her badly tortured mutilated dead body recovered after three days in Haryana. The three judge bench of supreme Court which acquitted the three convicts of Chawla gang rape cum brutal murder case after ten long years of incessant struggle and legal pursuance consisted of the then chief justice of supreme Court justice U. U. Lalit, justice Bela M. Trivedi, and S. Ravindra. The three judge bench held the Delhi Police responsible for the patchty investigation with several loopholes giving the benefit of doubt to the horrendous culprits. The Anamika of Najafgarh was just 19 years old who was abducted by three boys from Qutub Vihar, Najafgarh on 9 th February 2012 while returning home from office in Gurgaon. She was then with her two other friends who got panicked and came home running, informing her parents. The local police didn’t show any interest initially to lodge an FIR compelling the local populace to demonstrate in front of the police station. This gang rape cum murder took place six months before the case of DAMINI of Vasant Vihar running bus which caught global attention but Anamika’s case was unheard, not eliciting any media attention. Late Anita Negi Gupta of an NGO called Sanjeevni took the cudgels of this case in her hands and started the movement from Jantar mantar with a Dharna followed by candle matches n demonstrations and social media publicity. Thereafter Uttarakhand Journalists Forum president Sunil Negi n his colleagues n Dr. Vinod Bacheti n Uttarakhand Ekta Manch became active making it heard in print and electronic media with the first cover lead story filed in Metro Mail newspaper followed by other newspapers n TV channels with the movement catching momentum. The Sanjeevni NGO continued to organise protest demonstrations outside the Dwarka sessions Court where the case was being heard. Finally the culprits were awarded capital punishment by Dwarka Sessions Court and high Court too upholding the lower Court decision finally turned down by Supreme Court after more than eight years of relentless struggle by late Anamika’s parents.
