BABY TABASSUM who acted at the age of 3 in 1947 and hosted PHOOL KHILE Hain GULSHAN GULSHAN for 21 long years dies at 78 in Mumbai. RIP

A popular Radio and TV announcer and a child artist having acted in several Bollywood films, a household name for her Bollywood film lovers Tabassum is no more. She breathed her last at the age of 78 in Mumbai sending shock waves in entire Bollywood and to her millions of fans. As Ameen Sayaani is a legendary male announcer of Radio and Bollywood having given voiceover in hundreds of documentary n anchored entertainment events including radio programmes for several decades, Tabassum was known for her interesting anchoring of various entertaining programmes in Bollywood especially hosting a popular Doordarshan programme ” PHOOL KHILE HAIN GULSHAN GULSHAN”, for 21 long years from 1971 to 1993. The sad information was given by her son Hoshang Govil saying that her mother died of cardiac arrest on Friday night after being admitted in a hospital for some days. He said she was quite healthy and was to go for a shoot next week. Her death was sudden. Married to the elder brother of Arun Govil who played the role of God Rama in Ramayan serial Tabassum was known as Baby Tabassum who acted as a child artist starting her career in 1947 having acted in Mera Sugar, Majhdhaar, Badi Bahan in 1947 n 1949 as child artist then known as Baby Tabassum, her acting lived by one n all. In the year 1950 she acted in Sargam, Sangram, Deedar and Baijubaavra including in historical movie Mughale Azam. She became extremely popular after hosting a talk show interviewing eminent film personalities titled, ” PHOOL KHILE HAIN GULSHAN GULSHAN “, for 21 protracted years from 1971 to 1993. Having started her carrier in 1947 at just an age of three years Tabassum was born in 1944 to father Ayodhyanath Sachdev and Asgari Begum. Her last movie was with popular super star Rajesh Khanna n Govinda in SWARG and has also directed a film for the very first time ” TUM PAR HUM KURBAN”. A beautiful voice and her fantastic way of presentation including her enthralling smile will always be missed. Her passing away is indeed a great loss to Bollywood difficult to be filled ever.
