DHAMI GOVT writes to Supreme Court to withdraw SLP filed against Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar by TSR govt on Oct 27, 2020
The Uttarakhand government has withdrawn an SLP filed in Supreme Court by the then CM Trivendra Singh Rawat led government against Umesh Kumar, MLA ( not then) on 27 th October 2020 after the Uttarakhand High Court had quashed the petition of the state govt levelling serious charges of DESH DROH ( Treason) against the Khanpur ( Haridwar) independent lawmaker.
Prior to the then CM Trivendra Singh Rawat’s Uttarakhand government filing the SLP in Supreme Court on treason charges, the Uttarakhand High Court had quashed the petition of state government levelling treason charges against Umesh Kumar against whose earlier petition serious corruption charges were levelled against the then CM T S Rawat and the High Court, Nainital had ordered for a CBI enquiry, creating quite a furore in Uttarakhand.
After tremendous media hype, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had filed two SLPs in Supreme Court. One, against the high court’s order for CBI enquiry on alleged corruption charges levelled by Umesh Kuma against him and another petition pertaining to accusation of treason against the Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar.
Kindly recall that Umesh Kumar was not MLA then, but owner of Samachar Plus news channel of Uttarakhand. He was elected as an independent MLA from Khanpur defeating the wife of BJP heavy weight former MLA, twice Kunwar champion, Mrs Devyani Singh.
The all of a sudden withdrawal of the treason SLP against independent MLA Umesh Kumar filed by the then CM Trivendra Singh Rawat on October 27 , 2020 and let the SLP filed against the High order of CBI enquiry against corruption charges levelled against then CM Trivendra Singh Rawat has raised several controversies in Uttarakhand with Umesh Kumar thanking the present CM Pushkar Singh Dhami saying that his stand has been vindicated that the treason charge against him by TSR was fabricated and malicious. He also said that his stand regarding levelling alleged charges of corruption against him had already been substantiated after the high court had ordered for CBI enquiry but instead of going for the probe, an SLP was filed in apex court said Umesh Kumar.
It may be recalled that Umesh Kumar had furnished several prima face details about Rs 25,00,000 having been deposited into the accounts of one Harendra Singh Rawat and Savita Rawat close relatives of TSR the then CM by one Amaresh Kumar of Jharkhand in return for being made the Chairman of Gau Sewa Samittee, a state ministerial rank of Jharkhand. The charges of the said deposition of this amount and their connectivity with TSR were out rightly denied and rejected in writing by Harendra Singh Rawat n his wife Savita Kumar. The then CM too had refuted these allegations as false, fabricated and malicious to defame him. The state high court had ordered a CBI enquiry into these charges but the state then CM TSR had filed two SLPs in Supreme Court in 2020, in the month of October, one against treason and another challenging the Uttarakhand High Court order for CBI probe. Kindly recall that Trivendra Singh Rawat was in Delhi yesterday meeting top leaders when this development took place.
