Prime minister Narendra Modi expresses grief on three tragic incidents of Uttarakhand, Vadodara and Worli bus, sea link and avalanche tragedies. Sanction’s financial compensation to Vadodara victims.

The prime minister Narendra Modi has expressed his deepest condolences over the two back to back heartwrenching tragedies that occured in Uttarakhand recently claiming several lives in bus accident which fell in a gorge near Simdi village in Garhwal killing about 32 passengers n injuring others while taking ten lives in an avalanche at Draupadi ka Daanda, Peak 2 to the NIM base camp from 14000 high altitude peak to 13000 feet. The dead also included a Mount Everest conqueror Savita Kanswal n 9 others. The prime minister has also condoled the tragic deaths of people in the Vadodra bus accident and Worli sea link tragedy but has announced the financial compensation of Rs two lakh each to the bereaved families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injureds, only, praying for their speedy recovery. The people of Uttarakhand are expressing their anguish over the alleged double standards asking that why is it that the deceased and injured of both the tragedies of Uttarakhand have been left out in terms of financial compensation, though Vadodra victims were duly covered. May be the PMO will release it later being a policy for all without any discrimination, but since it wasn’t mentioned in the PMO tweets, some raised their concern in social media. In the tweet issued by PMO after the Vadodara accident expressing his deepest condolences, the prime minister has said , anguished by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Vadodara district. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Rs 2 lakhs from PMNRF would be given to the next of the kin of each deceased. Rs 50,00 would be given to the injured wrote the PMO tweet.

The PMO also issued two tweets in connection with the Uttarakhand tragedies condoling the heart wrenching deaths of several passengers and mountaineers and wishing speedy recovery of the injured, but there wasn’t any mention of financial compensation, however the PM has duly assured of all possible treatment to the affected persons, which definitely leaves a scope for future declaration of financial compensation. The tweets are the following.

However, the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami had declared the financial compensation of Rs 2 lakhs to the deceased of both the tragedies in Uttarakhand in addition to Rs one lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs. Fifty thousand to those with little injuries. The PM also expressed his serious concern over the Worli sea link tragedy tweeting : Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident on Bandra-Worli Sea link in Mumbai. Condolences to the bereaved families. I hope that those who have been injured have a speedy recovery : PM@narendra Modi.

Eminent social activist of Uttarakhand Anoop Nautiyal has expressed his serious concern over repeated occurance of fatal accidents in Uttarakhand tweeting in Hindi : In Uttarakhand road accidents are not coming down. In Daamta, Garhwal, Uttarakhand 26 people died in a road accident and just four months after in Pauri district 25 people gave up their lives in another road accident. The state administration will have to work harder to lessen these tragic road accidents tweeted the SDC foundation chairman Anoop Nautiyal.
