RISHI SUNAK :The front runner for British PM’s post

After the resignation of Britain’s prime minister Boris Johnson in a huff, the new prime Minister will be sworn in, in the month of September. Till now, according to latest developments, the son in law of Indian IT giant Mr. Narayana Murthy, Rishi Sunak is the immediate front runner in the race – making Indians extremely jubilant and proud with social media having already declared him as the British PM. Having secured the maximum number of 101 votes standing first in the competition – for the highest slot in Britain, Rishi Sunak definitely seems to be a sure sort chance, if the current voting results and political analysts are to be believed. However, despite two rounds of successes, Rishi Sunak still has challenges ahead waiting anxiously to narrow down to his close competitor as number two. If we have a look at the voting results of two rounds while standing as a strong front runner, Rishi Sunak has secured 101 votes while his immediate rival Mr. Morduant got 83 votes followed by Mr. Truss getting 64 with Mr. Bedenoch 49 and Tugeghat 32. Though it seems clear that Bedenoch and Tugeghat, standing currently on 4 th n 5 th position likely to be out of the race, haven’t withdrawn still, wanting to participate in another three rounds of voting. There are also reports that the outgoing prime minister Boris Johnson who is badly annoyed with Rishi Sunak for resigning and creating a critical situation compelling him to resign abruptly is clandestinely trying hard to ensure that Rishi Sunak does not succeed him. He wants anyone else, except Rishi. Kindly recall that Rishi Sunak and Javed of Pakistan origin, the health secretary in Boris Johnson’s cabinet had resigned expressing lack of confidence in their prime minister posing direct challenge to his leadership finally leading to his quitting as PM. In his resignation letter, the then finance minister Rishi Sonik had said : For me to step down as the Chancellor while the world is suffering the economic consequences of the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and other serious challenges is a decision that I have not taken lightly. However, the public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously. He added : I recognise this may be my last ministerial job but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning. Meanwhile, after the two rounds of voting with Rishi Sunak coming on the top and Morduant second intense lobbying has started with majority of the Conservative party MPs backing Sonik including MPs of torry party . After the final rounds when two contenders will be left in the field Rishi Sonik will approach the conservative members in the country to seek support in which as per the news pouring in – three lakh pounds or more are to be spend in the campaigning. There are about two lakh active conservative members in Britain. Keeping in view the unambiguous chances of Rishi Sunak winning, though born in Britain but an Indian , in India people are extremely thrilled with posts in social media mentioning that an Indian will rule over the English who slaved us for two hundred protracted years. Kindly recall, British politician, son in law of prestigious IT Magnate P. Narayana Murthy Rishi Sunak has been the member of Parliament from Richmond since 2015 and was chancellor of the exchequer from 2020 to 2022 while also serving earlier from 2019 to 2020 as chief secretary to Treasury.
