After retirement president Kovind will live at 12 Janpath, where lived former Union Minister and Lok Janashakti party chief Ram Vilas Paswan for three decades

The president of India Ram Nath Kovind after his retirement would be living in a spacious Bungalow, of course too small in comparison to Rashtrapati Bhawan at Janpath adjacent to 10 Janpath the residence of Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi. The new address of president Kovind after his retirement on 24 th July would be 12 Janpath, near Vigyan Bhawan and next bunglow of Lal Bahadur Shastri memorial near 10 Janapath. The renovation of this bungalow has, started to give it a fresh look. The daughter of the president had visited this house and had okayed it. Since then the renovation work of the bangalow had commenced. The former union minister Ram Vikas Paswan, who represented every government as said usually, was staying in this house for the last three decades. He expired on 8 th October 2020 while he was the Union consumer Affairs minister. The late minister’s residence 12 Janpath was also the central office of Lok Janashakti Party for several years and a centre of his political activists. His son Chirag Paswan had vacated this bungalow in the month of April after receiving the notice of the Estate office, urban development ministry. It was here that Chirag’s upbringing from childhood days took place. Three decades is no less a tenure. Late Ram Vilas Paswan had also been the Union Railway minister earlier. The president Ram Nath Kovind after leaving Rashtrapati Bhawan on 24 th July would shift 12 Janpath which will be fully ready by then. He will be given a staff also including a secretary and would be getting the pension of around 2,19, 200 dollars per year that comes to around more than Rs two lakhs monthly plus other perks. The salary of the President is Rs. 5 lakh monthly double the salary of the cabinet secretary plus various perks etc. The former president Pranav Mukherjee was allotted 10 Rajaji Marg. There used to be posters of Lok Jana Shakti party activists n leaders with the picture of Ram Vilas Paswan n Chirag Paswan with huge publicity hoardings outside 12 Janpath. After the expiry of late leader his statue was also installed inside the vicinity of the Bungalow which has now been shifted.
