The enraged inhabitants of Gram Sabhi Bhatti in Paabo Block who recently witnessed a seventy year old woman of their village brutally succumbing to the attack of a man eater with her mutilated body found in a nearby jungle submitted a memorandum to the chief conservator of forest who visited their village demanding among other things shooting of the man eater in order to relieve the terrorised villagers of the attacks of the predators. Today the chief conservator of forests, the chief of the forest division of Garhwal, DFO and Ranger of Pauri, and senior police officials visited the gram Sabha Bhatti’s inhabitants at its Panchayat Bhawan and interacted with them on the impending issue of increasing man eater attacks in Pabo Block with angered discussions also taking place between both the parties.
It may be recalled that in just two weeks two woman were killed by man eaters in Saplodi village and Bhatti Gram Sabha with angered and badly furious villagers of Saplodi n surrounding villages literally burning a man eater rescued by the forest department in an iron cage at the said village. Cases under various wild life animal protection acts were registered against 150 people by the forest department. Two professional hunters were also present in this meeting who assured the people and authorities that they will trap n rescue the man eaters and if need be kill it provided the department gives them the necessary permission. The enraged villagers men and women of Gram Sabha Bhatti and surrounding villages presented a hand written memorandum to the CCF n police demanding killing of the man eater as they fear that these man eaters active in five kilometer range pose direct threat to the women and children in particular while they are the most vulnerable lot. They also demanded freedom to villagers to collect dry woods from the jungle including employing people in MNREGA scheme for providing solar lights, wall around the village , introduction of bus from Chopriyon and Maandakhal to Ghorakhal to Paabo etc. They also demanded presence of forest guards in the Gram Sabha and adequate safety of school going children. The Chief conservator of forests and other senior officers of wild life and police patiently heeded to their requests and assured of their fullest cooperation. The copies of the memorandum submitted to the CCF have also been dispatched to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the area MLA minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat and others for immediate necessary action.
