Thousands of infuriated people march raising slogans demanding fully equipped hospitals in Gevaad Valley, Uttarakhand
At Gewaad Ghati ( Ghewaad valley) , Chaukuthya , Maasi, Vhikiyasain, Ram Nagar massive movement has erupted against the deteriorating health services in Kumaon division especially at Choukutiya, Maasi etc demanding construction of full fledged fully equipped hospitals with adequate number of doctors and surgeons and all the necessary medicines, medical equipments and paramedical staff in good number.
Thousands of women, men and youths marched in protest raising anti government slogans demanding upgradation of medical services in various parts of Kumaon division as according to them the people suffering from critical and simple ailments have to run from pillar to posts to seek quality treatment and the patients die on the way or in hospitals in view of the lack of shortage of medical treatment, medical equipments, facilities and medicines etc in government hospitals.
Several local representatives have undergone hunger strike and thousands of people marched in protest in Gevaad valley of Kumaon Uttarakhand demanding hospitals, health centres equipped with all the latest medical facilities and adequate number of doctors and surgeons.
The ongoing public movement in the Gevad Valley has highlighted public awareness of the lack of healthcare facilities in the mountains.
This movement is not limited to the Gevad Valley, but is a concern of all remote areas where the patients are not getting the services of medical doctors due to acute shortage of the staff.
The Uttarakhand government should take significant action in this regard and quickly arrange for specialist doctors in remote areas.
The government should formulate a concrete plan to address this problem and implement it as soon as possible.
