55 year old village woman tragically killed by a maneater tiger at Paniali , Haldwani

 

WHEN will the human – wild life conflict come to an end in Uttarakhand finally. Not a week passes when there are not at least two deaths by maneater attacks in Uttarakhand.  The women, men, senior citizens , children even girls are becoming their victims almost on every third day.

The forest and wild life departments is of no  consequence.  People are not finding any relief from these deisrhnents despite several complaints from the affected people. According to a conservative estimate of the Uttarakhand government during the last five years there have been 110 fatalities due to maneater attacks and around 500 to 600 deaths during tevlsst twenty five years.

According to the latest report a maneater  tiger claimed another woman’s life today in Paniali, part of Haldwani’s Fatehpur Forest Range. According to reports, 55-year-old Kamala Fartiyal, who had gone to cut grass in the forest, was the tiger’s prey. The incident occured  The local police have sent her dead body for postmortem and send her case for financial compensation for Rs. Six lakhs the amount fixed by the state government for the deceased of the wild animal attacks. The people of the area are extremely furious and have demanded fixing of iron cages and tranquilizing the tiger and if possible killing him via a professional hunter.

It may be recalled that around 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The woman had gone to the forest to cut grass for her cattle.

When she did not return home by noon, her family began searching for her.

During the search, his mutilated body was found in the forest about 2 kilometers from the scene.
Terror: This is the second major incident in the same Fatehpur range within the last 15 days.

Earlier, on February 12th, another woman named Ganga Devi was also killed by a tiger in the same area.

Fatehpur Range Ranger Pradeep Asgola said that cages and cameras are being installed in the area to capture the tiger.

The Forest Department has appealed to villagers not to venture into the forest alone for safety reasons.
