47 member highest decision making Steering Committee formed in place of CWC by Congress chief

The newly elected Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has revoked the decades old highest decision making body called “Congress Working Committee” and has converted it to Congress Steering Committee. There have been in all 47 members in this new Steering Committee which included Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh including various senior leaders n chief Ministers etc. The list of newly nominated members of the Steering Committee formed by the Congress president was released to the media today signed by General Secretary K. C. Venugopal. The release says : As per Article XV(b) of the Constitution of the Indian National Congress, the Congress president has constituted the steering committee that would function in place of the Congress Working Committee. It may be recalled that the highest decision making body of Congress was constituted for the very first time in 1920 in the Congress convention held in Nagpur. It was presided by C. Vijaya Bhaskara Rao then. After 102 years the CWC has been changed to Congress Steering Committee with 47 members.
