Seven UP policemen suspended for dereliction of duty and violating EC guidelines allegedly influencing voters in by polls

Seven policemen while on duty in various polling areas and booths have been suspended today for dereliction of duty and trying to influence the voters in Uttar Pradesh during the bypolls in several constituencies.

According to the latest news, during the bypolls in various constituencies in three districts of Uttar Pradesh seven policemen have been suspended for misusing their official positions to influence the voters.

In Seesamaau assembly constituency of Kanpur two sub inspectors were outrightly suspended for violating the election guidelines during the polling.

The senior officers of election commission monitoring the election suspended these two sub inspectors for violating the set guidelines of the election commission.

In Kundraki area ( by election) the senior superintendent of police have dismissed two policemen and a sub inspector from the election duty on the complaint of the electorates for misusing their posts and trying to influence the voters.

The election commission has recommended immediate departmental actions against them.

The action has been initiated against these two policemen and a sub inspector to ensure free, fair and impartial polling.

The Chief Election Commission Rajiv Kumar had already issued clearcut directives for the conduction of free, fair and impartial elections.

The Samajwadi Party leaders and its chief Akhilesh Yadav had issued statement on X about the alleged misusing of the official machinery to influence voters of some communities warranting the election commission to take suitable stern action.

The Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has shared a video in social media showing a policemen tearing the voting slips and also a news channel allegedly showing a policemen pointing a pistol towards women voters in a minority community colony.

The Sub inspector of police of Kanpur Arun Singh and Rakesh have been suspended forthwith.

They have been charged to discourage / dissuade the voters not to vote.

The video in this regard has gone viral and the election commission has taken suo moto cognizance of the same.

In Kundraki assembly bypolls the police personnel had to suffer due to their violating the guidelines of the election commission.

After receiving the complaints against the police personnel , the the SSP Satpal Antil has suspended a policemen and send three others to police lines.

According to the administration the inquiry is going on against some of the policemen for dereliction of duty etc. In Meerapur Assembly by poll the senior Superintendent of Police Abhishekh Singh has immediately suspended two sub inspectors of Police stations Shahpur and Bhopu, Mujaffarnagar for violating the election commission guidelines and dereliction of duties. Not only their suspension but the probe is also going on against other officers.

In addition to this, the Samajwadi Party candidate from one of the constituencies Dr.Jyoti Bind has complained that police have tried to influence the voters in favour of the ruling BJP. She had written a letter to the chief election commissioner complaining about the policemen threatening the voters in civil dress to vote for the ruling party according to SP candidate Dr. Jyoti Bind.

She accused the ruling party of Uttar Pradesh and its administration saying that the SP supporters are being taken away in the car. Alleged that sector president Vijay Yadav, Gopal, Arvind from Baraini of Majhwan assembly constituency of Mirzapur were picked up from their home at 6 in the morning. Dr. Jyoti Bind added that there is no news about their whereabouts. Jalalpur booths of Kachhwa police station area and Chitwanpur booths of Dehat Kotwali are being prevented from voting by deploying heavy police force in Muslim, Yadav and Bind dominated villages said the Samajwadi party candidate.
