ANOTHER SETBACK TO CONGRESS IN UKHAND. FORMER CABINET MINISTER DINESH AGRAWAL RESIGNS

As the election date is coming nearer in Uttarakhand the Congress leaders are resigning from its primary membership obviously to join the ruling saffron party. In the recent past one of its MLA from Badrinath Rajendra Singh Bhandari, former MLAs, several local leaders who had contested on Congress tickets in 2022 assembly elections have joined Congress giving a jolt to the already faction ridden opposition party in the Himalayan state this boosting the morale of Bharatiya Janata party. The former beauty queen turned politician and daughter in law of Dr.Harak Singh, Congress leader and former cabinet minister of Uttarakhand who had contested the 2022 assembly elections from Lansdowne had also resigned from Congress. In Haridwar recently, few leaders of Congress close to the former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat had joined BJP welcomed by his rival n former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, the BJP candidate contesting from Haridwar. As if this was not enough, yesterday, a former cabinet minister and former MLA from Dharampur, Dehradun in Harish Rawat and Vijay Bahuguna governments Dinesh Aggrawal have resigned from the primary membership of the party. In his two line letter of resignation addressed to state president and copy sent to the national Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge he wrote that he is resigning from the primary membership of the party. However, he didn’t thanked the party leadership for being patronised in his past having made him the cabinet minister in Uttarakhand’s two governments till 2016. The resignation of Dinesh Aggarwal from the primary membership of the party is a huge setback to Harish Rawat and his son Virendra Rawat from Haridwar. Dinesh Aggarwal was in the faction of former Congress chief and former leader of the opposition Pritam Singh who tried his best to convince him not to leave Congress party but all in vain. There were rumours about his leaving the Congress party since the last two months which finally happened. Meanwhile according to sources the former cabinet minister and Senior Congress leader Dr.Harak Singh Rawat is also thinking of joining BJP against as there are cases of ED lodged against him and he has not other alternative. His daughter in law has already resigned from Congress. Meanwhile, the former cabinet minister, former president of Uttarakhand Congress Pritam Singh Rawat met Dr.Harak Singh Rawat and tried to convince him not to join BJP. He went to Rawat’s house and tried his best to convince the annoyed leader.
