Four die in Uttarkashi and seven seriously injured after three vehicles gutted underneath huge silt, mud and stones due to heavy avalanche ! Victims were from MP. RIP

Uttarakhand has become synonym of natural calamities and subsequent deaths where during monsoon , daily and on other seasons almost on every alternate days unnatural casualties occur due to tragic accidents claiming several lives and via maneater attacks.

Moreover, the entire Uttarakhand having come under Zone 5 prone to earthquakes and natural ecological disasters as the one happened on 2013 June, Rishi Ganga Dhauli Ganga over- floods of 2022 claiming several lives and that in Uttarkashi , Garhwal etc the people in large numbers are shifting to cities and towns – leaving the villages empty of human lives inviting the wild animals and predators to attacks those left behind.

While, the spree of natural calamity deaths are in the rise in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh with massive floods and avalanches claiming good number of human lives after houses on river sides are being destroyed like the pack of cards, in Uttarkashi four casualties were reported due to inclement weather, torrential rains, cloudburst and over flooding of rivers leading to cars and vehicles being fully submerged and gutted.

According to a latest news, yesterday night the entire Gangotri highway was closed due to excessive rains and 7 avalanches in a row. There were huge number of stranded vehicles near Gangnaani.

While, the people were stranded there waiting for the highway to open – all of a sudden an avalanche occured which took a tempo traveller under its stride and tons of silt, stones and, boulders fell down on two cars taking them under its tremendous pressure down to the gorge several hundreds metres below.

All the three vehicles got trapped under the massive debris claiming four lives including the women sitting inside their respective vehicles.

All the tourists are from Madhya Pradesh. Out of them seven injured pilgrims/ tourists were hospitalised .

According to a volunteer during natural disasters Mr. Rawat – he single handedly rescued the victims after the avalanche.

After the landslides the highway was opened and the SDRF team including the police reached the affected spot.

According to the Border Roads Organisation’s Major V. S. Veenu which maintains the NH roads of Hill states, on Gangotri Highway from Bhatwadi to Gangnaani on twenty kilometre distance there had been 7 incidents of landslides in various locations resulting in the highway being blocked and cleared after tremendous efforts of the BRO who work round the clock.

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to mention here that in Uttarkashi heavy rainfall has resulted in havoc leading to loss of lives, vehicles being gutted and loss to public and government properties on a massive scale.

The weather department of Uttarakhand has warned of incessant heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and the government has issued high alert in various districts of Uttarakhand asking people to exercise restraint on their movements.

According to weather ( meteorological ) department of Uttarakhand Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat will experience heavy rainfall.

The heavy rainfall trend since the last three days will continue on Tuesday as well reveals the weather department of Ukhand.

  1. Unprecedented disasters due to heavy & continous rains particularly in Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand this year, has resulted in loss of several human lives, coupled with huge damages to the infrastructure of the two states.

    It will take quite a lot of efforts, time & finances to bring the situation back to normalcy.

    Our sympathy goes to those who have lost their near & dear ones in this tragedy. 💐💐
