After tremendous heat generated by opposition leaders and the outraged general public on sensitive ANKITA Bhandari issue the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhyani addressed a press conference to answer every question of the media, saying that they may ask any questions however tedious or complex it is but in group of tine, he is ready to answer them.
Perhaps he had sensed the mood of the media on this important sensitive issue which is hell bent upon expecting for a CBI probe in Ankita Bhandari case. Responding to the question of one of the journalists on ordering for the India’s premier investigation agency CBI the chief minister emphatically said that providing justice to Uttarakhand’s daughter Ankita has been the top priority of the state government and in this direction the government has worked with complete seriousness, sensitivity and transparency.
The Chief Minister said that for a fair and thorough investigation of this heinous crime, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the chairmanship of lady officer Smt. Renuka Devi which thoroughly investigated all aspects of the case. As a result of the government’s vigorous and effective judicial advocacy, all three convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Vindicating his government’s stand on the formation of SIT the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that not only the lower court but also the Honourable High Court and the Supreme Court have expressed satisfaction over the investigation of the SIT constituted by the State Government, which shows the impartiality and strength of the investigation.
Chief Minister Dhami said that currently an attempt is being made to create an unnecessary atmosphere in the state on the basis of an alleged audio clip whereas the reality is that the judicial process has reached its conclusion with full seriousness and the culprits have received severe punishment.
On the issue of CBI investigation, the Chief Minister clarified that although the sentiments of the people of the entire state are attached to daughter Ankita, but her parents are the most affected by this tragic incident.
He said he would personally speak with Ankita’s parents and take their feelings, pain, and expectations into account before making any further decisions.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is fully committed to the safety, respect and justice of daughters.
