20 YEAR OLD AILING WOMEN OF GANDHI NAGAR, MUNSHIYARI TAKEN TO HOSPITAL ON COT BY FOUR MEN LIFTING HER GIVING CPR SEVERAL TIMES ON THE WAY !

I think the journalists of Uttarakhand may have been tired for repeatedly writing on the worst health system of Uttarakhand with also news about shortages of roads in several villages of Uttarakhand showing genuine incidents of ill or pregnant women with acute pain being ferried on temporary palanquins/ cots lifted by four men with successive governments doing nothing but just drawing a sorry figure. In Uttarakhand while there is undoubtedly a wide net of roads with several villages having become ghost villages due to massive migration to cities n metropolises but there are still several villages especially on border areas, high altitudes or distant villages which are bereft of roads leading to its residents suffering badly and in several cases women and men, especially pregnant women or Sr citizens allegedly dying while being ferried to hospital, either due to shortage of ambulances, shortage of approach roads, health centres or timely medical treatment etc.

Uttarakhand was given a separate entity severing it from Uttar Pradesh on 9 November 2000 but despite the new Himalayan state becoming 23 years old due to the sacrifices of 43 dedicated UK activists unfortunately the state is still in jeopardy with several villages still without roads and its health sector not able to provide relief to its ailing inhabitants especially pregnant women living in interior villages and ailing citizens.

The fresh incident pertains to a twenty years old critically ill woman who had to be ferried via a temporary created palanquin / cot lifted by four persons when she became unconscious while washing clothes two hundred meters away from her village Gandhinagar at Munshiari in Kumaon division of Uttarakhand. The unconscious woman who had fallen down becoming unconscious while washing clothes had to be brought on foot after being lifted by four men and given CPR several times on the way before being admitted in a hospital.

The video of Dainik Uttarakhand going viral in social media shows the women falling unconscious repeatedly on the way with the villagers carrying her – giving repeated CPR facing lot of difficulties. This had become a usual affair in the villages of Uttarakhand in interiors especially at border villages where lack of ambulance services, no approach roads and non availability of health centres including ” Jacha bacha centres having no facilities” leading to women delivering babies on the way or women dying for lack of adequate treatment or not being ferried to hospitals in time due to several villages bereft of roads or transport.

  1. Lack of transportation (for medical aid) to a young woman from Munshayari is shocking even after 22 years, formation of Uttarakhand.
