1988 Tamil Nadu Cadre IPS n former DG, ITBP Subhash Arora is the new Delhi Police Commissioner !
The national capital Territory of Delhi will have a new Delhi Police Commissioner. According to an order issued by the Union home ministry , a 1988 Tamil Nadu Cadre Indian Police Service officer Subhash Arora will take charge from the outgoing commissioner Mr. Rakesh Asthana on Monday who was accorded a ceremonial farewell today at Kingsway camp. Currently Subhash Arora, IPS is the Director General of Indo Tibet Border Police . The out going Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana has retired on Sunday. After the elevation of former DG ITBP as Delhi Police commissioner, Mr. S. L. Thosan, DG SSB will now also look after the additional charge as DG, ITBP. Delhi being a NCT, the Delhi Police is under the home ministry, central government with the Delhi government not having any direct say in the maintenance of law and order of the national capital. There had allegedly been confrontation between the Delhi Police and the state government on several issues pertaining to the law n order situation of the capital.
