18 tragically killed and several injured after a private bus completely buried under the heavy Landslide at Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh

Ecological disasters in the entire Himalayan belt, especially in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have created havoc during the recent monsoons. There have been irreparable tragedies all around with lots of deaths and colossal loss to massive properties and public exchequer’s money. As if this was not enough, the nature’s fury has today claimed several lives in Himachal Pradesh probably eighteen ( 18) , after a passenger bus was completely buried under the Landslide. In addition to these 18 deaths several passengers have been grievously injured and admitted to the nearby hospitals. This tragedy occurred in Bilaspur district when a private busy heading towards Ghumaarvi from Marotan on Tuesday came under the dreaded influence of the massive landslide and completely buried under its heavy debris killing 18 passengers and grievously injuring several others. According to the latest news the accident occurred on Tuesday evening at around 6:25 pm near the Barthi Bhallu Bridge, on the banks of the Shukra Khad. A massive amount of debris suddenly fell from the hill, damaging and crushing the bus. The accident caused chaos at the scene. After The deceased have been identified as:
Naksh (7), Bakshi Ram (42), Narendra Kumar (52), Krishna Lal (30), driver Rajneesh (36), Chuni Lal (52), Rajiv (40), Sharil Khan (25), Sanjeev Kumar (15), Aarav (4), Anjana Kumari, Praveen Kumar (40), Kanta Devi (51), Kamlesh (36), Amar Singh (36) and others. All the deceased were from Bilaspur district.acknowledging information from local people, the teams of police, administration, NDRF and SDRF immediately reached the spot and started the rescue operation. During the rescue operation, 18 bodies were recovered, while several injured people were pulled from the wreckage. Two girls and a boy were rescued safely, but the mother of one of the girls died at the scene. The bus driver and conductor also died in the accident. Expressing deep grief over the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an assistance amount of ₹2 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50 thousand to the injured.
President Draupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and Union Minister J.P. Nadda also expressed grief over the tragic accident.
According to the locals the site of the accident had been experiencing rockfalls for several days. The Public Works Department was informed of this issue several times, but no action was taken.
