16 member delegation of Uzbekistan journalists’ visits PCI on Tuesday

A 16 member delegation of journalists from Uzbekistan on the invitation of Press Club of India today visited the PCI premises in New Delhi and exchanged views of mutual journalistic interests including both sides signing a memorandum of understanding on mutual partnerships and experience exchange in the presence of the Charge d’affaires of Embassy of Uzbekistan Aziz Baratov. In the absence of the Press Club of India President Gautam Lahari, who was abroad the Vice President of PCI Manoranjan Bharti signed the Memorandum while on behalf of the Ferghana Regional Branch , the Union of Journalists of # Uzbekistan Mr. Muhammedjon Obidov, Chairman, Ferghana regional branch, the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan signed it.

Among other things the memorandum also endorsed holding of annual media tours to India and Ferghana, Region of Uzbekistan for journalists. Both PCI and the Ferghana, Uzbekistan journalists delegation also agree to mutually invite the two non – governmental journalists organisations to the forums, conferences and creative competitions etc.

While welcoming the Uzbekistan delegation of journalists the former general secretary Vinay Thakur gave the detailed account of the functioning of Press Club of India and the services it is providing to over 9000 journalists and non journalists Members of Press Club of India including the programmes, seminars, workshops etc it conducts in the PCI premises from time to time including mutual friendship exchange programmes.

He wished that the delegation members are enjoying their stay in Delhi despite some polluted environment. The vice president of PCI Manoranjan Bharti too welcomed the Uzbekistan journalists delegation warmly saying that if he is not wrong it has a 99% literacy rate amid cheers and clapping by the delegates. The delegation comprised of senior veteran journalists with eight editors of various newspapers and television news channels including correspondents, photo journalists and directors etc.

The general secretary of the Press Club of India Neeraj Thakur while giving his introductory address introduced the PCI office bearers and members of management committee. The Uzbekistan journalists were honoured with bouquets, shawls, trophies and gifts including PCI Quarterly magazine, The scribes world. The meeting between the PCI office bearers and the Uzbekistan journalists was extremely cordial and interactive. An invitation was extended to PCI by the Uzbekistan delegation to visit their country in the near future. There were two translators who helped translate the views of Uzbekistan journalists who addressed the meeting.
